17th March3.18.08 — Happy 3rd Birthday to my Camera!
Thanks for always being there for me; through thick and thin, and even when I accidentally bump you on things. Though I’ll probably never buy new gear again, I’ll always remember the first time I saw you. After saving so patiently for so long… there you were, waiting for me on that shelf at Staples. Ahh.
Buying you was a moment I still smile over; as I picture my small self there again, almost as if I’m someone else. Oh the trials of a photography lover playing with a “mere” point and shoot! Oh the joy of a camera that took a picture right away instead of beeping and flashing for what seemed like hours. You know what I’m talking about.
Let me pause a moment, and write a note to you dear reader, that I am now a firm believer in point and shoots. If you want to learn about photography, buy whatever version of Powershot Canon is currently selling (generally between $100-$300) and play with it. And I don’t mean sorta kinda, I mean really & truly! And do so daily. Learn everything there is to know about it. Then, if you’re still in love with photography, you’re ready; go buy a big, black “real” DSLR and love on it just as much as that point and shoot.
But, either way, no matter what you shoot with, be sure and share your photographs online. Get feedback: critiquing and compliments. I’d love to see your work myself! Definitely share your link below.
Anyway, back to my adorable XTi… Thanks for being part of my life. Happy Birthday - and here’s wishing you many more!

I’m here to tell you about a fun idea we had the other day…
See the super cool photos of me and my Hannah above? Right, so the question is: would you like to share a photo of you and your person too?
Yes! The answer’s yes! It’d be like a great big collaboration, in one great big photo album. What do you think? I vote we do this thing.
How to participate:
- Who: all teddy bears (or other animals) & their humans
- What: a photo or collage from any camera (webcam, cell, digital, etc)
- When: anytime at all and probably for forever, yay!
- Where: at the great big photo album or courses
- How: email, upload, twitter, fb, post, blog or whatever works best for you (just share the link in a comment here so I see it)
- Why: because it’s funnnnnn! And because Hannah has promised to make a slide show to share here on her blog once their are enough photos (SWEET!).
